This week ushers in the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan. In light of this, IE MBA Student, Hana Sawaqed has offered the following words about this festive time:

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is a month of fasting, but not just for the body, but also for the soul. It is a month of reflection, humility, selflessness, charity, gratefulness, and prayer.

Muslims all around the world fast from dawn to sundown. In Jordan, it is traditional for many families to get together and break fasting with a short prayer followed by the consumption of a couple of dates to prepare the stomach after a long day of fasting, after which the families enjoy a variety of home cooked meals and socialize with each other.
